About Us
We build More Than Just Homes
Since 2004, Regent Homes has not only been building homes but also creating a developmental niche for itself as a unique company with a visionary stance. Regent doesn’t just build homes. It builds beautiful and walkable communities that are traditional neighborhood developments (TND). Regent’s TND neighborhoods are patterned after Tennessee’s traditional small
towns. They’re designed with pedestrians in mind. Tree-lined streets and a
network of wide sidewalks create a strong pedestrians connection between
residential areas, neighborhood retail/office areas, and the neighborhood
greens. Streetscapes and architecture are design in a historical flavor. Deep front porches, high ceilings, tall windows, and classic architecture
detailing reflect and era gone by. Lenox Village was Nashville’s first
traditional neighborhood development of it’s kind, as well as Regent Homes
first TND community. Creation of such traditional neighborhood development
was the result of the collective efforts of David McGowan, President of
Regent Homes; Rick Blackburn, Vice-President of Regent Homes; and city
planners and engineers. This kind of successful collaboration is indicative
of the team approach that the company itself uses to produce such impressive
homes and communities that pleases customers.

David McGowan, President of Regent Homes, is proud of the strengths his
team of professionals is able to offer to Regent customers. He was reared in
Mobile, Alabama, and his father was a builder. David received a B.A. degree
in economics and political science from the University of South Alabama
before beginning his career in home building. Rick Blackburn, Vice
President, was reared in Tennessee. He received his B.S. degree in civil
engineering from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville before beginning
his career as a civil engineer. In addition to David and Rick, the
management team includes: Michael Jacobs, Vice-President of Construction
with over thirty years of experience in residential and commercial
construction; Donny Walker, Warranty/Quality Control Manager; John Barcroft,
Controller; John Burns, Purchasing Manager, and Elizabeth Hernandez,
Administrative Assistant. This core management team guides the successful
efforts of Regent Homes, a full-service home building and development
company.
The efforts of Regent’s dedicated team approach have resulted in more
than 800 satisfied customers to date. Since developing Lenox Village in
Nashville, Regent has started other communities including: Lenox Creekside,
Lenox of Smyrna, Brighton Village, Valley View Village, Blackman Farm, Primm
Springs Estates, Arden Village and the Artie Lee and Ruby May buildings
located in the West End area in Nashville.
As the sixth largest home builder in the greater Nashville area since
2005*, Regent Homes can best be described as a quality “traditional
neighborhood developer,” offering extensive attention to the individual
client in the TND home market. Regent places its communities within
naturally beautiful settings of rolling hillsides, lakes, and streams. Each
community has its own special charm and appeal, offering the diversity
required by residents who have a broad spectrum of interests, tastes, life
styles, and who enjoy living in a beautiful, walkable community. From the
landscaping at each community entrance, to quiet pocket parks and preserved
hillside, no details are overlooked. Regent neighborhoods feature ornamental
street lighting and stop signs. And, adding a gracious touch to the Regent
neighborhoods are the tree lined streets and wide side walks.

The company is environmentally sensitive and plans for energy efficient
homes. Homes are will insulated. Vapor barriers are used under homes,
thermopane glass, and high-efficiency appliances are chosen for use in
Regent homes.
Regent homes are built using the base price approach, and offer a list
of options that allow the client to customize their home. Many of the homes
offered today are a product of evolution of customer demands. Regent Home
offers town center homes (condos), single family detached, single family
attached homes (town homes), live-work town homes, retail/office space and
mix-use. Features vary in each price range, with options available, such as
upgraded flooring, counter tops and appliances. Most homes feature James
Hardie Siding products and/or brick exteriors.
Regent Homes focuses attention on target consumer groups. McGowan states
that “our homes are design around target consumer groups, that include
single family home buyers, empty nester’s, young couples with children, and
middle age and older buyers. As well as buyers with special needs.” Rich
Blackburn added, “these buyers are seeking a carefree, low maintenance life
style were the association maintains the grounds.”

The most valuable commodity that Regent Homes creates is the customer.
“It is essential to respond to customers’ needs and wants,” David says, “and
therefore, this is a business that evolves daily. It is market-driven, and
the builder must be in touch with his customer, and have a hands-on
approach.” Such a philosophy leads naturally to much collaboration between
Regent and its customer.
It is no surprise that Regent Homes’ dedication to creating communities
carries over into concern for community organizations, as well. David, Rick
and the Regent team believe in giving back to the community. David is active
in the local Home Builders Association and the Adventure Science Museum.
David and Rick also serve on the MTSU Advisory Board for Land Development
and Residential Construction program.
In addition Lenox Village has been recognized for several awards
including the Home Builder Association “Smart Growth Award”, the AIA Design
Award, and the Friendly Street Award.
