The History Behind Regent Homes
The History Behind Regent Homes
June 19, 2026
Regent Homes began with a vision to build homes for a wide range of buyers while creating neighborhoods where people could truly feel at home.
After years of experience in real estate and homebuilding, David McGowan launched Regent Homes in 2004. His goal was not to serve just one type of buyer, but to create homes for people at every stage of life, including first-time homebuyers, singles, couples, growing families, empty nesters, and retirees.
That inclusive approach has shaped our growth from the beginning. What started in the Greater Nashville area has since expanded into Huntsville, Alabama. Regent Homes has developed more than 14 communities in the Nashville area and over 5 in the Huntsville area and has become one of the largest private builders in the region.
We Do More Than Build Homes: The story of Regent Homes is rooted in a simple belief: a home is only one part of where people live. The neighborhood around it matters, too.
Regent Homes’ mission is to create and build in communities that are friendly, relaxing, and enjoyable, with homes that blend different styles and support people in different stages of life.
This philosophy is particularly relevant in today’s housing market, where buyers seek more than just square footage. They are looking for a home that feels connected, livable, and thoughtfully designed. Regent Homes has established a reputation based on this broader understanding of what a home means.
Thoughtful Design With Southern Character: Regent Homes offers a wide range of new home designs, from cozy plans to more luxurious options. Across our portfolio, we blend Southern architecture with modern interior design to create homes that feel timeless, comfortable, and practical.
We are also an energy-efficient builder, using eco-friendly building methods, materials, systems, and practices to help create more energy-efficient homes.
A Legacy of Recognition and Local Involvement: Over the years, Regent Homes has earned awards for categories such as “Best Neighborhood,” “Friendly Street,” and “Best of Show.” We are also involved in the communities where we build through volunteering and support for local initiatives.
Regent Homes is a member of organizations including the Home Builders Association of Middle Tennessee, Nashville Chamber of Commerce, Better Business Bureau, Habitat for Humanity, and Urban Land Institute.
